Geobsedeerd door de noodzaak dingen te verpakken houdt deze industrie geen rekening met de even legitieme wens iets uit te pakken. Vanzelfsprekend heeft deze toestand, eenmaal geïnstitutionaliseerd, geleid tot uitwassen en regelrecht sadisme. Wie kent niet het in cellofaan verpakte broodbeleg waarbij het rode of groene pijltje staat afgedrukt op een plek waar absoluut niets te openen valt? Het dagblad Het Parool meldde onlangs dat er in 1996 meer dan 7000 ongelukken zijn gebeurd bij het openen van verpakkingen.
